Typically, when discussing Haason Reddick, the goal is double digits (like in 10+ bags), but the South Jersey native and Temple product likes certain numbers, whether it’s his new n No. 7 in the field or his position as the eighth best player on the Eagles roster, according to Eagles Today.

Reddick, who signed a three-year, $45 million contract in free agency to return home in March, is coming off back-to-back 10-plus sack seasons with the Arizona and Carolina Panthers.

The Philadelphia defense hasn’t seen this level of production from an edge rusher since Connor Barwin in 2014.

The process behind the top 25 list began with Eagles Today site editor Ed Kracz and writer John McMullen collating their top 25 players independently of each other and then assigning point values, with 25 points awarded to the first-ranked player on each list, 24 to the second-ranked player, and so on, with one point for the 25th-ranked player.

The higher ranking of either journalist broke any ties in the ballot.

Reddick finished with 36 total votes and finished No. 10 on McMullen’s list while Kracz is high on what the 2017 first-round pick will offer the Eagles, putting him at No. 6 overall.

Reddick, 27, is a unique hybrid player who will essentially play an overhead role in defense of Jonathan Gannon as linebacker/defensive end SAM,

“Very smart, very intelligent, high football character, very good skill set, versatile player, and it’s our job to deploy him and affect the game, accentuate his skills,” Gannon said of his new toy.

Make no mistake, the main point of Reddick’s job description will read for quarterback, which he did 12.5 times with the Cardinals in 2020 and another 11 times with Carolina last season.

“After quarterback,” veteran point Brandon Graham said when asked what he wanted from Reddick. “It’s about getting those sacks, affecting the quarterback. He’s a great player. »

“I feel like I’m in good shape and can be a big chunk in that defense,” Reddick added. “It’s just about going out there and performing.”

Reddick understands what the expectations of a big-money sack specialist going home will be for a team that finished second-to-last in the league when it came to defeating the QB last season.

“I (want) to show what I’ve learned throughout my years so far,” Reddick said. “After getting paid, someone who is there to make plays and help the team win. It’s that simple.”

And Reddick is no shrinking violet when it comes to embracing the hype, something he announces daily on social media with a description that reads:Philadelphia Eagles weapon.

“That’s how I feel,” he said. “I feel like a weapon of mass destruction when it comes to being on the football pitch. I can do a lot of things differently than a lot of guys. I move differently than a lot of guys. I am not your typical rusher in the way I rush.

“I feel like I’m different from other guys playing the same position in the league.”
