WE are all desperate for cheap ways to stay warm this winter.
So fans were thrilled when a savvy mum shared her quick and easy isolation hack on TikTok.
Shauna, known online as @homediydiary, often shares her DIY tips with her 191,000 followers.
In her latest video, we see the bargain hunter put the insulating film on her windows in order to conserve heat and limit her energy costs.
Shauna cleans the windows and frames, before sticking the transparent film inside.
She said: “If you have poorly insulated windows, I’m going to show you a really inexpensive way to add secondary glazing to them and retain the heat.
“First, clean your windows thoroughly, then use white spirit to clean the window frame.
“It’s really important because we’re going to be using double-sided tape, and we need it to stick really well.
“We will use window film or insulating film. It’s very affordable, you can buy it for between €10 and €15, and you also get double-sided tape in the box.
“Okay, I know you doubt. Just trust the process and wait for the end results.
“So stick the tape on all sides of the window frame and peel off the backing.
“Then remove the window film. It comes in a huge sheet – you might even get two full windows out of it.

“Roughly cut it to the size you need, but leave it a little larger. You want it to stick out from the strip.
“Now it’s easier to work from top to bottom, and you want to glue the film to the tape very, very well.
“Pull it tight, removing as many creases as you can.
“Then hold a hair dryer a few inches from the film and start heating it, working up and down.
“At first you will see that the film has creases on it, but once you heat it up the film will tighten up and the creases will be removed.
“Once finished, the film is going to be completely transparent and it acts as a secondary glazing to insulate your window.”
The insulating film is available from various retailers, including Amazon, and starts from just £3.29.
Mums flocked to the comments to thank the mum for sharing the clever hack, with one writing: “We have a bachelor [glazed] wooden windows, and fitting this made all the difference, cost £3 something on Amazon!
